What we do

One supplier for casting, machining, finishing and assembly

In short

CharMax Precision provides six aluminum die casting services: high pressure die casting, die casting tooling and mold manufacturing, CNC machining after casting, secondary operations, surface finishing, and assembly with packaging. All six run in our own facility in Dongguan, Guangdong, China.

Because every operation is in-house, a part is cast, machined, finished, inspected and packed without leaving the building. That eliminates inter-factory freight, removes the delays that come from coordinating separate vendors, and makes one company accountable for the complete dimensional result rather than just its own step.

Services can be engaged individually or as a package. Customers with their own machining capacity often buy castings only, while OEMs looking to reduce their supplier count buy finished, assembled and packaged parts ready to go straight onto their production line.

How the services fit together on a real program

A new die casting program moves through the services in a predictable sequence. Knowing the sequence helps you plan your own launch schedule backwards from the date you need parts.

Need machined aluminum parts instead of castings?

Die casting pays for itself above roughly 1,000 parts per year. Below that, or while you are still validating a design, CNC machining from billet is usually the faster and cheaper route. CharMax Precision runs a dedicated aluminum CNC machining operation for exactly that work, so you can prototype machined, then move to casting when volume justifies tooling.

Questions about our die casting services

Can we buy castings only, without machining or finishing?

Yes. Many customers take raw or shot-blasted castings and complete machining in their own plant. We quote casting, machining, finishing and assembly as separate line items so you can take any combination. That said, most customers who compare the two options end up buying finished parts, because a single supplier owning the whole tolerance stack removes the argument about whose operation caused an out-of-spec dimension.

Which service should we start with if we only have a 3D model?

Start with the aluminum die casting service page and send us the model. Our engineering review and DFM analysis are free and come before any commitment. The DFM report tells you whether the geometry is castable as drawn, what wall thickness and draft changes would reduce cost, which features should be machined rather than cast, and what the tooling investment will be.

Do you make the tooling in-house or subcontract it?

Die design and mold manufacturing are done in-house in our own tool room. That matters when a die needs modification after T1 samples: an in-house tool room turns a change around in days, whereas a subcontracted die means shipping steel back and forth and waiting on another factory's schedule.

What is your lead time from purchase order to first parts?

Production tooling takes 25 to 40 days depending on part complexity and cavity count, followed by 5 to 7 days for T1 sample production. After you approve samples, production lead time is 15 to 25 days including machining, finishing and inspection. For repeat orders on existing tooling, expect 15 to 20 days.

How much does aluminum die casting tooling cost?

A single-cavity production die for a small to medium part typically runs 3,000 to 12,000 USD. Larger parts, multi-cavity dies and tools with multiple slides range from 12,000 to 25,000 USD or more. Tooling is quoted as a one-time charge, remains dedicated to your part, and is stored and maintained at our facility for the life of the program.

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

There is no rigid minimum once tooling exists, and we regularly run batches of 500 pieces. For new programs, the economics rather than a policy set the floor: below roughly 1,000 annual pieces, we will tell you honestly whether CNC machining from billet would serve you better.
