Why CharMax Precision exists

CharMax Precision started in 2013 as an aluminum machining shop. Customers kept arriving with the same problem: a design that worked perfectly as a machined prototype, but that could not be produced economically once annual volumes reached the thousands. Machining a housing from a solid billet is fast to set up and hopeless to scale, because every part costs the same as the first.

So we built the other half of the answer. Adding die casting let us take a customer's part through its whole life: machined while the design is still moving, die cast once the volume is real, and machined again after casting to hold the tolerances that casting alone cannot reach. Same engineers, same drawings, same quality system.

That history is why we do not behave like a foundry that happens to sell aluminum. We came to casting from precision machining, so we think in terms of tolerance stacks, datum schemes and inspection plans rather than just filling a cavity. It is also why we will tell you when die casting is the wrong answer for your volume, instead of selling you tooling you do not need yet.

Casting, tooling, machining, finishing, inspection and assembly all operate in the same facility, so parts are never shipped between vendors mid-process.

Manufacturing philosophy

How we approach a program

Solve it at DFM, not at first article

A wall thickness problem costs a sentence in a DFM report, a tooling modification after T1, or a scrap rate you live with for five years. It is the same problem at all three points; only the price changes. We front-load engineering effort because that is where it is cheapest.

Own the whole tolerance stack

When casting and machining sit at different companies, an out-of-tolerance bore becomes an argument. When they sit in one building under one quality system, it becomes a correction. We keep both in-house specifically to remove that failure mode.

Say the inconvenient thing early

Anodizing looks worse on die cast aluminum than on 6061. High pressure castings should not be T6 heat treated. Below 500 parts a year, machining beats casting. None of that helps us sell tooling, and all of it saves you a failed launch.

Your enquiry is read by a manufacturing engineer who opens the model, not by a sales agent who forwards it. That is why our DFM feedback arrives in days and why the answers you get reference your actual geometry.

We are not a general foundry that also runs aluminum. Every die, every process parameter and every finishing line in our facility is set up for aluminum alloys, which is why we can advise on alloy selection and wall thickness with confidence rather than guesswork.

Most die casters ship castings to a separate machine shop, which adds freight, delay and a second company to blame when a tolerance is missed. We cast, machine, finish and inspect in the same facility, so one company owns your entire tolerance stack.

Where is CharMax Precision located?

CharMax Precision manufactures at 1st Floor, Building A, No. 3 South Fourth Street, Xiangmang West Road, Qingxi Town, Dongguan, Guangdong, 523660, China. Qingxi Town sits in the Dongguan manufacturing belt between Shenzhen and Guangzhou, roughly 90 minutes from Shenzhen Bao'an and Guangzhou Baiyun airports and within easy reach of Yantian and Shekou ports for sea freight.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

We are a factory. The die casting cells, tool room, CNC machining centres, finishing lines and inspection room are our own equipment in our own facility, operated by our own staff. You can audit the plant, watch your T1 samples come off the machine by live video, and speak directly to the engineers running your program.

How does this relate to charmaxprecision.com?

Both sites belong to CharMax Precision. charmaxprecision.com covers our aluminum CNC machining operation, which machines parts from solid billet in wrought alloys such as 6061 and 7075. charmaxdiecasting.com covers aluminum die casting for volume production. Many customers use both: machined parts to validate a design, then die casting once annual volume justifies tooling.

What size customers do you work with?

Our programs run from small equipment manufacturers ordering a few thousand parts a year to established OEMs running six-figure annual volumes. We are structured for long-run programs rather than one-off orders, so the best fit is a customer with a part that will be in production for years and who values engineering support over the lowest possible quotation.

What languages do you work in?

English and Chinese. All drawings, quotations, inspection reports, certificates and correspondence are handled in English, and your day-to-day contact is a manufacturing engineer who reads technical drawings rather than a translator relaying messages.

How is our intellectual property protected?

We sign your NDA before receiving files and can sign a mutual agreement if you prefer. Your tooling is dedicated to your part and is never used for another customer, your drawings are not shared outside the engineering and production team assigned to your program, and we do not display customer parts or names in marketing material without written permission.

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

There is no rigid minimum once tooling exists, and we regularly run batches of 500 pieces. For new programs, the economics rather than a policy set the floor: below roughly 1,000 annual pieces, we will tell you honestly whether CNC machining from billet would serve you better.
